The Mistake

You try to break it open but are unsuccessful. On accident, you drop the metal lockbox onto the table. Upon collision, a giant clang resounds through the library. Vigil, looking alarmed, immediately turns to look in your direction. When he sees your guilty expression, he immediately strides over to you. You explain what went wrong, leading Vigil to be disappointed in you.

“Dropping the box could have untold consequences,” he says, looking at you in displeasure.

You apologize for your actions and are forgiven by Vigil. He begins to assist you in opening the lockbox. The two of you press upon the engravings on the side of the box at the same time, allowing the box to spring open.

Inside are various notes and artifacts, which after perusing through, the two of you gasp in genuine surprise. As it turns out, Time is a former human chosen by the former Timelord to be their successor. Time’s true identity is as a man named Kairos. Surprisingly enough, Vigil tells you he grew up with Kairos but assumed he died after he vanished one day. As far as the citizens of Xylian were concerned, Time was always the same individual since the switch was never publicized. Vigil knew Kairos inside and out, as they were childhood enemies, so this information is extremely valuable.
