The Clockmakers

A Forest Near Metal

You walk briskly away from the sound. You’ve had too many scares for one night. Hopefully, this way will lead you to an exit. All you want to do is go home, even if you cannot remember the details. Anywhere but here would be nice. As you continue walking down the dark corridor, you begin to hear what sounds like metal pipes and running water. Unfortunately, no light is in sight, so you continue forward, hoping to find an exit soon. The rough stone floor feels infinite as you continue walking. Strangely enough, the absence of clocks now makes you feel uneasy. You may have been walking for hours, and there would be no way to tell.

BAM

All of a sudden, you crash into a wall. Before you have a chance to grasp your footing, you find yourself, once again, being transported to an unknown location. As you open your eyes, you stare in awe. All around you are clocks and other mechanics powering an entire city. The city itself is made of an amalgamation of bronze, silver, black, and gold metals that all work together to create an industrial, gothic steampunk style. You are shocked by the lack of greenery, almost entirely absent from your vantage point. However, as you turn around, a vast, vividly green forest comes into view. You choose to follow a traveled path into the forest, hoping to return home that way.

As you traverse deeper into the forest, you encounter three individuals who all invite you to travel alongside them. The first introduces himself to you as Vigil, the architect. The second is Zee, who is barely awake enough to introduce themself but appears kindhearted. Finally, the third person introduces herself to you as Hope, the Clockmaker. At her words, you notice Vigil making a face of disgust that he attempts to mask as you glance toward him.

Do you choose to travel with Vigil? Zee? or Hope?
